FFL Transfer Information: How to Buy a Firearm Online
Purchasing a Honey Badger®, Sugar Weasel®, or The Fix™ online is a secure and legal process, but it requires a few extra steps compared to standard tactical gear. Because Federal law prohibits shipping firearms directly to an individual’s home, your purchase must be sent to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder typically your local gun shop for a background check and final transfer.
At Honey Badger Gun, we coordinate daily with dealers across the United States to ensure your Q LLC hardware arrives safely and legally.
The 4-Step Transfer Process
1. Place Your Order
Select your firearm or receiver on our website and complete the checkout process. You do not need to have your FFL selected at the exact moment of checkout, but it will speed up your delivery if you do.
2. Choose a Local FFL Dealer
Find a licensed firearm dealer in your area who is willing to perform the transfer. Most local gun stores and pawn shops provide this service for a small fee (typically $25–$50).
Pro Tip: If you are purchasing an NFA item like a Trash Panda™ or Honey Badger SD, ensure your dealer has a Special Occupational Tax (SOT) status to handle silencer transfers.
3. Send Us the License
For your order to ship, we must have a current, legible copy of your dealer’s FFL on file.
Requesting the FFL: Ask your dealer to email a PDF or clear photo of their license to orders@honeybadgergun.com.
Reference: Please ask them to include your Full Name and Order Number in the email so our shipping department can match the license to your purchase immediately.
4. Background Check & Pickup
Once your firearm arrives at your local dealer:
They will contact you to let you know it is ready for pickup.
You will go to the shop, fill out the ATF Form 4473, and undergo a background check.
Once approved, you pay the dealer their transfer fee and take your new Q firearm home.
Important FFL Policies
Inspect Before You Sign
When you go to your local dealer to pick up your firearm, inspect it thoroughly before completing the transfer. If there is any damage or if it is the incorrect model, do not sign the paperwork. Once the firearm is transferred into your name, it is considered “used” and cannot be returned for a refund.
NFA Items (Silencers & SBRs)
If you are purchasing a suppressed system, the process involves a Form 3 (Dealer-to-Dealer transfer) which we handle internally. Once it arrives at your dealer, they will help you file the Form 4 with the ATF to secure your $200 Tax Stamp.
Restricted States
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the firearm they are ordering is legal in their state. We recommend calling your local FFL before ordering to confirm that a Sugar Weasel Pistol or high-capacity rifle is compliant with your local statutes.
